Parenting is a Joke is a comedy-parenting podcast hosted by comedian Ophira Eisenberg. Each week, Ophira talks to a different comedian about their career and their kids, exploring the realities of being creative, performing at night, and being responsible for raising one or more small humans. Conversations tackle the tooth fairy, eating sticks, summer camp anxiety, the hidden horrors of childbirth, and the obvious horrors of our own childhoods. We celebrate the absurdity of shuffling a career with raising a kid, highlight less traditional parenthood journeys, all while relishing in the fact that no one knows what they're doing, but we're all trying! Ophira Eisenberg is a standup comedian, writer, and host. She has appeared multiple times on CBS’s The Late Late Show, as well as on Comedy Central, This Week At The Comedy Cellar, Kevin Hart’s LOL Network, HBO’s Girls, Gotham Live, The Today Show, and featured on The New Yorker Festival.
She hosted NPR’s national comedy trivia show and Ask Me Another for 9 years, where she interviewed and played silly games with over 300 celebrities, including Sir Patrick Harris, Rosie Perez, Yo-Yo Ma, Chelsea Handler, Awkwafina, Roxanne Gay, Bob The Drag Queen, Nick Kroll, Matthew McConaughey and more. She was also a regular panelist on Hulu’s Up Early Tonight.
She is also a regular host and teller on The Moth Radio Hour. Her stories are included in three of The Moth’s best-selling collections, including the most recent: How To Tell A Story: The Essential Guide to Memorable Storytelling from The Moth. Ophira’s own comedic memoir, Screw Everyone: Sleeping My Way to Monogamy, was optioned for a television series. Her comedy special Inside Joke is available on Amazon, and her new comedy album and special Plant-Based Jokes is streaming now on YouTube available through 800Pound Gorilla Records.
